About the Collaboration
Shortly after meeting in rural northern New Mexico, Camille and Cayla began dancing together—organically merging stories, animacy, and the sheer joy of moving. Their shared lineage of earth-based performance and mythic embodiment gave birth to Dance Journeys, which has since become a shared offering for communities and creatives alike.

About the artists

CAYLA MAE SIMPSON is an interdisciplinary movement artist based in Los Angeles. Raised in Sapello, New Mexico, Simpson grew up on a small farm immersed in agriculture and enchanted by the elements. Her live performances, immersive installations, and dance films explore the profound connections between nature, animism, and technology. Simpson has held fellowships and residencies with the Hemera Foundation, CultureHub LA, and the Institute of Electronic Arts at Alfred University. Her work has been presented at Lincoln Center, the Baltimore Museum of Art, 1969 Gallery, Fosdick-Nelson Gallery, and festivals internationally. She holds degrees in dance performance, film, and media arts from Southern Methodist University.

CAMILLE LITALIEN Camille Litalien is a Franco-American movement artist, choreographer, and somatic movement therapist whose artistic work and pedagogical path navigate the porous boundaries between dance, myth, and memory. Newly appointed Head of Movement at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, Camille has performed and directed internationally, with engagements at the Royal Opera Ballet (Covent Garden), the Young Vic Theatre, and festivals across Europe and North America. Her creative and embodied research lives at the intersection of performance, pedagogy, and deep ecology. She teaches movement and embodiment through practices such as the Michael Chekhov Technique, dance dramaturgy, and somatic studies.
